Insurance Planning
BACKGROUND
Jim Flynn got his start in the financial services industry working in a sales position with MetLife. Along the way, Jim saw the value of lifetime learning and earned various designations including: Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter and most recently Retirement Income Certified Professional. These three designations required extensive study and testing through the American College Byrn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Jim’s career journey has been unique. In the first half, he spent the better part of two decades providing insurance solutions to families in South Carolina. Later on, Jim’s son Matt decided to become licensed and follow in Jim’s footsteps. In addition to being an integral part of the tax preparation business, Matt took on bookkeeping and a role as an Insurance Advisor. A later addition to the insurance side of the business was the hire of Jim’s niece, Terry as she worked diligently and became a licensed agent which enables her to work within that business and take on the role of our Administrative Assistant.
Jim has come to the realization that opportunities are being missed by not being more active in offering insurance and retirement planning assistance to his existing client base. He wants to roll out some new marketing initiatives to introduce his current customers to the other services that he can provide.
Another unique aspect of Jim’s tax business is its seasonality. The tax season keeps Jim and his family extremely busy from the last week of January through mid-April. During this eleven to twelve-week period they are working at full capacity. During the balance of the year, they operate at a much more relaxed paced which enables the two planners ample time to discover other financial needs that can be met with the right insurance plan.
